I Promessi Sposi — Contemporary Art Project by Alessandro Manzoni is a multidisciplinary exhibition inspired by the iconic Italian novel I Promessi Sposi.
The project brings together contemporary artists who reinterpret Manzoni’s literary universe through modern visual language. It explores timeless themes such as love, faith, fear, hope, and moral choice.
In October–December 2025, the project unfolded across two exhibition locations in Italy. Together, these spaces formed a continuous artistic narrative that connected history with contemporary culture.
The first stage of the project took place at the historic Monastero del Lavello. The exhibition remained open to the public until 18 October 2025.
Here, contemporary artworks entered into dialogue with Manzoni’s text. They reflected on inner search, spiritual tension, and the human path toward light during times of uncertainty.
During this stage, Liliia Kaluzhyna presented the painting Ricercha. The work interprets the idea of inner exploration and resilience through a contemporary visual language. As a result, it became part of a contemplative route linking literature, emotion, and art.
In December, the project continued with I Promessi Sposi — Art, Design & Fashion UA–IT.
This stage took place in a former industrial space transformed into a platform for artistic dialogue.
Here, Ukrainian and Italian creatives expanded Manzoni’s narrative into contemporary art, design, and fashion. Moreover, the space encouraged direct interaction between artworks, viewers, and architecture.
Once again, Ricercha by Liliia Kaluzhyna became part of this dialogue. It reinforced the continuity of the project across different locations and formats.
