In October 2021, the Sax Art Gallery in Matera hosted a collective exhibition to commemorate the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death. Curated by the historian and art critic Giorgio Gregorio Grasso, the event featured works by contemporary artists, including the renowned artist Liliia Kaluzhyna, who presented her piece “Purgatorio canto I”. This exhibition, following events in Rocca Brivio Sforza (Milan), Caravaggio, Venice, and Rome, provided a significant artistic tribute to the Great Poet and was held in the iconic Sassi of Matera. Kaluzhyna’s participation made a meaningful contribution to the history of art, reflecting her unique interpretation of Dante’s legacy.
